States of the DP slave

The DP slave (peripheral) is in one of the following states:

State	Meaning
Power_ON / Reset	The DP slave has been switched on or reset and begins internal initialization.
WPRM	Wait for Parameter The DP slave waits for the parameters from the DP master.
WCFG	Wait for Configuration The DP slave waits for the Check_Configuration telegram from the DP master.
DXCHG	Data Exchange The DP slave exchanges cyclic payload data with the DP master and answers diagnostic queries.

States in a DP-Slave

Cyclic data exchange between a class 1 master (the controller) and a DP slave (field device) can only take place if the DP slave is in the data-exchange state (DXCHG). This requires the DP slave to receive a sequence of telegrams from the class 1 DP master.
