FMA: management services

FMA1/2 (fieldbus management of layers 1 and 2) provides the functions necessary for managing layers 1 and 2.

The services can be divided into two groups: local services affecting the individual station and services that concern other stations attached to the network. In both groups there are mandatory, prescribed services and optional ones.

After completion, most services generate a response that indicates to the user via FMA1/2 whether it was possible to carry out the service, or whether an error occurred.
