PROFIBUS Manual

For installation in accordance with RS 485 transmission technology, PROFIBUS DP/FMS two-core, stranded and screened cable. It is advisable only to use cable according to this specification for PROFIBUS.

To avoid accidental damage to bus cables, they should be marked with a special colour.

When wiring, cables must not be bent or damaged. This can lead to changes in cable structure and, as a result, to reflections. In particular, bus cables must not be stretched or squeezed and the minimum bending radius should always be respected (the typical minimum bending radius for wire cable is 75 mm and for braided cable 45 to 65 mm).

For historical reasons there are two different types of cable. The use of cable belonging to the previously used cable type B is not generally recommended.

For new installations, use cable type A exclusively.
